Cup Finals a Slugfest in Game 1, Game 2 TONIGHT

The hype leading into Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals was worth the wait and then some. The Hawks took the 1st game of the Finals by a 6-5 score in what was a wild affair. Ville Leino got the scoring going 6 minutes in to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. A little over a minute later, Troy Brouwer tied the game up at 1. The Hawks then took a 2-1 lead on a great individual effort by Dave Bolland on his highlight reel short handed goal. Philadelphia struck back about 5 minutes later with a Scott Hartnell power play goal to tie it up at 2. The 1st period ended on a high note for the Flyers thanks to the late goal from Danny Briere to give Philadelphia a 3-2 lead at the end of 1.

To the 2nd period we go, and the scoring really picked up in the middle frame. Patrick Sharp scored 1:11 into the period for the Hawks to tie the game up at 3. Then about 6 minutes later, former New York Ranger Blair Betts fired home a wrist shot for his 1st goal of the playoffs to give the Flyers a 4-3 lead. Chicago's offense woke up again thanks to goals from Kris Versteeg and a 2nd from Troy Brouwer to give the Hawks a 5-4 lead with about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd period. However with a little over a minute left in the middle frame the Flyers tied the game up again at 5 thanks to a goal from former New York Islander Arron Asham. So after 40 minutes of play we were tied at 5.

3rd period was by far the most evenly played period of the entire game. The game winner was scored by Tomas Kopecky 8:25 into the period. Now the goal itself was nice but the best part of the entire play was actually the play made by Duncan Keith at the point to keep that puck into the zone. Don't believe me, see for yourself:

So that was the game winning goal. Antti Niemi stopped 27 of 32 Flyer shots in the victory. Meanwhile his Flyers counterparts had a little trouble. Michael Leighton stopped 15 of 20 Hawks shots and was lifted half way through the 2nd period and replaced by Brian Boucher who stopped 11 of 12 Hawks Shots and got saddled with the loss.

The Flyers announced this morning that Michael Leighton will be back in net again tonight as the starter for the Flyers here in game 2. Coverage gets underway tonight at 8 on NBC!

Stanley Cup Finals Now Set: It's Flyers and Blackhawks!

So thanks to the win by the Flyers last night the Stanley Cup Finals are now set! The Flyers finally finished off the Canadians yesterday with a 4-2 victory in Game 5. Brian Gionta got the scoring going for the Habs 30 seconds into the hockey game. Then the Flyers come back and tie the game thanks to a short handed goal from Mike Richards. The funny thing about the Richards goal was the way he scored. A loose puck rolled into the Habs end and Halak came out to play it. Him and Hamrlik collieded and the puck came loose to Richards who had a net so wide open Stevie Wonder could have hit it. So at the end of 1 the game was tied at 1. Moving on to the 2nd period, the Flyers came out strong. 3 minutes in Arron Asham scored a very nice goal, which Asham was not really know to do when he played for the Islanders. So the Asham goal made it 2-1. Then Jeff Carter scored a little over a minute later to stretch the lead to 3-1. Late in the 3rd Scott Gomez cut the lead to 3-2 but the Jeff Carter scored his 2nd goal of the game into an empty net to seal the Habs fate and send the Flyers to the the Cup finals.

This will mark the first trip to the finals for both teams in over a decade. The Blackhawks last played for the Stanley Cup in 1992 where they were swept in 4 games by the Champion Penguins. Meanwhile the Flyers last trip to the Finals was in 1997 where they were swept by the Champion Red Wings. These teams have met only once before in the playoffs and the Hawks won the lone series in 4 games in 1970-71. Another interesting stat worth noting is that both teams are trying to break losing streaks in the Finals as well as cup droughts. Both teams have lost 5 straigth times each in the cup finals.

The Blackhawks have not won the Cup since 1961. Since then the Hawks have made 5 appearances in the finals, losing them all. The losses were to: 1961-62 lost in 6 to the Maple Leafs, 1964-65 lost in 7 to the Canadians, 1970-71 lost in 7 to the Canadians, 1972-73 lost in 6 to the Canadians, and finally 1991-92 lost in 4 to the Penguins. I think it might be safe to say that the Hawks are thankful the Flyers knocked out the Canadians, so the Hawks won't have to deal with them again in the finals. As for the Flyers, they have not won a Stanley Cup since 1974-75 and they have not been in the Finals since getting swept by Detroit in 1996-97. Now since the last Flyers Cup victory, the Flyers, like the Hawks, have lost their last 5 trips to the Cup Finals. The Losses were to: 1975-76 lost in 4 to the Canadians, 1979-80 lost in 6 to the Islanders, 1984-85 lost in 5 to the Oilers, 1986-87 lost in 6 to the Oilers, and finally in 1996-97 in 4 to the Red Wings. During the 2009-2010 regular season, these teams met once. it was on March 13th in Philadelphia, a game in which the Flyers won 3-2 thanks to a goal from Chris Pronger with about 2 seconds left in regulation.

This final should be very entertaning. Both teams are coming in with very hot goalies, Michale Leighton for the Flyers and Antti Niemi for the Blackhawks. Right now both of those goalies can be in possible consideration for the Conn Smyth Trophy as playoff MVP. Also possible considerations for that award from these 2 tteams would be Jonathan Towes and Dustin Byfuglien of the Hawks as well as Chris Pronger and Danny Briere of the Flyers. I say possible Briere and Byfuglien because of their clutch goal scoring here in theses playoffs, espically Byfuglien. As for Pronger and Towes getting consideration, it is due to their just solid overall play throughout the first 3 rounds.

The schedule for the Cup Finals looks like this:
Saturday, May 29 at Chicago, 8 p.m. NBC, CBC, RDS
Monday, May 31 at Chicago, 8 p.m. NBC, CBC, RDS
Wednesday, June 2 at Philadelphia, 8 p.m. VERSUS, CBC, RDS
Friday, June 4 at Philadelphia, 8 p.m. VERSUS, CBC, RDS
*Sunday, June 6 at Chicago, 8 p.m. NBC, CBC, RDS
*Wednesday, June 9 at Philadelphia, 8 p.m. NBC, CBC, RDS
*Friday, June 11 at Chicago, 8 p.m. NBC, CBC, RDS

So there you have it. The 2009-2010 Stanley Cup Finals are all set. if the first 3 rounds of the playoffs were any indication this should be fun to watch!

Blackhawks Will Play for The Stanley Cup For the First Time Since 1992

For the First time since 1992 years, the Chicago Blackhawks are back in the Stanley Cup Finals. They got there by completing the 4 game sweep of the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Finals last night by a score of 4-2. San Jose actually got on the board first in game 4, thanks to a 1st period goal from Logan Couture, his 4th of the playoffs. The Sharks then extended the lead to 2-0 thanks to a power play goal from Patrick Marleau, his 8th of the playoffs. Then the Hawks woke up and decided to start playing hockey again. The Hawks scored twice in the 2nd, the first goal coming from Brent Seabrook, and the 2nd coming from Dave Bolland, to tie the game at 2. Then all of a sudden, everything changed for the Hawks in the 3rd. Hawks have a power play with about 6 Minutes left in regulation. There is a wild scramble in front of the Sharks net and from out of nowhere Dustin Byfuglien is able to find a loose puck and pound it past fallen Sharks netminder Evgeni Nabokov. The goal gave the Hawks a 3-2 lead. Then with about 45 seconds left in the game Kris Versteeg added the empty netter to give the Hawks a 4-2 victory in the game and a 4 game sweep in the series. In this game 4 Nabokov made 23 saves on 26 shots, while his counterpart Antti Niemi stopped 16 of 18 shots that he faced.

Looking at this series from the perspective of the Sharks, this really does have to be disappointing. The team had a bit of a scare against the Avalanche in the first round before winning in 6, and then despite getting blasted in game 4 of the next round against the Red Wings 7-1, they were able to take down the 2 time defending West Champions in 5 games. Now they get swept by the Hawks in the Conference finals? That just doesnt seem right to me man. Through the first 2 rounds, the Sharks had everything going. Pavelski and Thorton and Heatley were all producing and were all having an impact. Then when the conference finals started, those 3 guys went AWOL and the only one who really seemed to show up besides Nabokov was Patrick Marleau. If the Sharks are gonna be a Cup winner any time soon, then they really need to take a look at what they have and they need to start making better business decisions and possibly consider getting rid of some players.

As far as the Hawks go, congratulations. The Blackhawks have not played for Lord Stanley's Cup since 1992 when they were beaten in 5 games by Mario and the Penguins. The Blackhawks this year are looking to end 2 curses. The first one is a team curse. That team curse is the fact that the Hawks have the longest drought in the NHL, having not won the Cup since their last Cup victory back in 1961! Sop the Hawks are looking to end that. Also the Hawks are trying to end the Curse of Marian Hossa:

The past 2 seasons have not been kind to Marion Hossa. Each of the past 2 Cup Finals Marion Hossa has played in, and each of the past 2 finals his team has come up on the short end of the stick. 2 Years ago he was playing in Pittsburgh, as they lost in 6 games to the Detroit Red Wings. Last year Hossa was playing for the Detroit Red Wings as they fell to Pittsburgh in 7 games. Will this season finally be the year Marion Hossa gets his name on the Cup? Only time will tell!

First Subway Series of 2010 Goes in Favor of Mets

The first Subway Series of 2010 is in the books. The location was Citi Field. The series started off great for the Yankees as they took the Friday game by a 2-1 score. It was a close battle going into the 7th before the Yankees struck on a 2-run double from Kevin Russo. The Mets scored their lone run of the contest in the Bottom of the 9th on a Jason Bay RBI Double. Vasquez took the win for the Yanks and Rivera got the save as Dessens took the loss for the Mets. Due to the physical problems the Mets starting rotation has been having as of late, Takahashi got a start and went 6 solid innings for the Mets, this coming from a guy who usually works out of the bullpen. The reason for Takahashi getting the start Friday, and also RA Dickey getting a start earlier this week is due to the fact the John Maine is now on the DL and Oliver Perez has been moved into the bullpen (THANK GOD). so aside from Johan Santana and Mike Pelfrey, the Mets rotation is kinda messed up.

Speaking of Mike Pelfrey, he threw a gem in the Saturday game of the series, helping lead the Mets to a 5-3 victory. Mets got on the board first in the 1st thanks to RBI singles from Wright and Pagan. Wright then drove in another run in the 3rd to give the Mets the 3-0 lead. The Yanks finally got on the board in the 6th with an RBI infield single from Fransisco Cervelli. The Mets went on to add on two more runs thanks to an RBI Double from Alex Cora in the 6th and then another RBI Double from Angel Pagan in the 7th to give the Mets a 5-1 lead. Yankees got the bases loaded in the 8th and scored twice of a walk to Kevin Russo and a fielders choice hit by Derek Jeter to cut the lead to 5-3. But K-Rod came out of the pen and was able to get a 5 out save for the Mets and hold the win. Despite having struggled for the most part this season, David Wright showed a little bit of his old self Saturday night. The big problem for Wright this season has been the strike outs. They are up for David this year as he is 3rd in the National League in strike outs. Some in the media believe that the 98 MPH fastball Wright took in the head against the Giants at Citi Field last August my have something to do with his struggles this year but who knows.

Now on to the Sunday night game which featured an awesome pitching matchup between C.C. Sabathia for the Yankees and Johan Santana for the Mets. Mets took the rubber match and the series thanks to the 6-4 win last night. The Mets got on the board first in the 2nd inning thanks to a 2-Run Single by Alex Cora. Then in the same inning, on the very next batter, Jason Bay steps up and hammers a 2-Run Blast that traveled 399 feet to give the Mets a 4-0 lead. Bay stepped up again in the 5th and crushed a solo homer to right field that went about 396 feet to give the mets a 5-0 lead. The Mets scoring was capped off in the 5th when David Wright drilled an RBI Double to give the Mets a 6-0 lead. At that point it looked like the Mets had it on cruise control. Santana went 7 and 2/3 striking out 5. The only blemish against Santana came in the 7th when Cervelli knocked in Swisher with an RBI single. Then the Mets shut the door in the 8th and headed into the top of the 9th leading 6-1. Igarashi started the inning on the mound for the mets but got ROCKED. got 1 out and then gives up an RBI Single to Miranda, an RBI Double to Jeter, and an RBI ground out to Gardner. Then K-Rod comes in, gets the 2nd out, loads up the bases, adn ends the game by striking out A-Rod on a full count fastball.

This may have been one of the most entertaning series between these two teams in a good long while. All games were close and they were all decided by 2 runs or less. Now the big question going forward is, what direction are both teams going to go from here? The Mets get today off and start a 3 game series tomorrow at home against division hated foe the Phillies. Meanwhile the Yanks also have today off and start a 3 game series tomorrow against the Twins on the Road. So now we will all wait and see what happens heading into the rematch between these two teams at Yankee Staduim next month

NHL Conference Finals Analysis Part 2

So before I discussed the Western Conference final, now lets take a look at the Eastern Conference Finals. After last night, the Philadelphia Flyers have a 2-0 series lead on the surprise Montreal Canadians. game 1 of the series was a total surprise as the Flyers blasted the Habs by a score of 6-0. The goal scorers fpor Philly that night were Braydon Coburn and Simon Gagne with power play goals, and even strength goals came from James van Riemsdyk, Danny Briere, Scott Hartnell, and Claude Giroux. Flyer netminder Michael Leighton stopped all 22 shots he faced. Meanwhile his counterparts didn't fair as well. Jaroslav Halak, who had done great things between the pipes for the first 2 rounds of the playoffs was pulled in Game 1 after allowing 4 goals on 14 shots. Cary Price, Halak's replacement, didn't fair much better, allowing 2 goals on 11 shots. The whole time during game 1 the Canadians showed no life in their legs what so ever. The Flyers had all the jump and were winning all the battles the entire game. Jaroslav Halak looked human in game one, getting beaten by easy shots and not getting much support.

Now moving on to Game 2 of the series which took place last night in Philadelphia. The Flyers took the game 3-0. Philly's first 2 goals came on the power play, with Danny Briere connecting in the 1st and then Simon Gagne in the 2nd period. The 3rd and final goal came in the 3rd period off the stick of Ville Leino. leino's goal has been the softest goal that Halak has allowed in the playoffs all year. Don't believe me look for yourself:

During the game itself, Halak made 20 save allowing the 3 goals, while at the other end, Michael Leighton stopped 30 of 30 shots that the Habs took.

The first 2 games of the series have been very surprising to this point. It partally has to do with the play of the Flyers, but, for the most part, it has been the play of Montreal that has been a real shocker. Jaroslav Halak, who looked superhuman in the first 2 rounds has now seemed to come back down to earth here in the first 2 games. Halak has faced 34 Flyer shots and has allowed a total of 7 goals. That can't happen NOW in the playoffs. Again Halak played great through the first 2 rounds against Ovechkin and the Caps and then Crosby and company in Pittsburgh. Now he goes against what I consider slightlty inferior competition and Halak is starting to falter. Halak really needs to try to find his game and quick. Besides Halak trying to find his game, the Canadians need to try and find their offense again, which has been shut out in 120 minuts of hockey by Michael Leighton. The Habs really have gotten no solid pressure on Leighton. No traffic has gone in front of the Flyer net, and most of the shots that do get through to Leighton, are either from far out and he can stop them quite easily, or are coming from erally bad angles. So if Montreal wants to turn this series around in Game 3 tomorrow night at the Bell Center, Halak and the Habs offense need to be found.

Looking at the series now from a Flyers perspective, you have to be very very pleased. The offense seems to have come from virtually out of nowhere. Everything seems to be clicking offensivly for the Flyers. Also it does not hurt that Michael Leighton is playing out of his mind right now. From what I have ssen of the first 2 games of the series, it really seems to me that Jaroslav Halak and Michael Leighton may have switched teams. Leighton is playing great and Halak is underperforming. Plus Montreal, as mentioned earlier, has no life. So Game 3 in Montreal could be HUGH for the rest of the series. If both teams keep up their current play, then this series is over. However it can always turn the other way in favor of the Habs. You never know what can happen.

NHL Conference Finals Analysis

So the first 2 games have been played in each of the Conference Finals in the NHL and the West is not a surprise while the East somewhat is. Lets start in the West. The Chicago Blackhawks currently hold a 2-0 series lead over the San Jose Sharks. Game 1 resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Hawks. Jason Demers got the scoring going for San Jose with a power play goal in the 1st. Chicago came back to tie it in the 2nd thanks to a Patrick Sharp goal. Finally late in the 3rd the Hawks got the winner from Dustin Byfuglien. Antti Niemi was able to turned away 44 of 45 Sharks shots, with his best save, and possibly the best save of the entire playoffs coming against Ryan Clowe. Here is the video proof:

Meanwhile in game 1 Sharks netminder Evgeni Nabokov turned away 38 of 40 shots. Game 1 of this series was easily highlighted by the the play of Antti Niemi who almost single handledly stole the game for the hawks. With the exception of that 1st period goal, Niemi was unreal between the pipes.

Now moving on to Game 2 of the series, which took place last night. The Hawks seemed to have more jump and drive to the net the the home Sharks did. The hawks got the party rolling on an Andrew Ladd goal which was the only scoring in the 1st. Dustin Byfuglien gave the Hawks a 2-0 and Hawks captain Jonathan Toews connected on the power play to stretch the lead to 3-0. San Jose finally got on teh board with a power play goal of their own thanks to Patrick Marleau. The lead was 3-1 Hawks after 2. It didn't take long for the Hawks to strike again as Troy Brouwer scored 7 minutes in to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead. San Jose would get one more Puck behind Antti Niemi thanks to Patrick Marleau but it wasnt enough as the Hawks to the game 4-2 and now a 2-0 series lead.

The story right now in this series has been predominately Antti Niemi, who has really stepped his game up in these first 2 games. I know I stated earlier that I thought that Jarsolav Halak of the Canadians was a favorite for the Conn Smyth as Playoff MVP, but it don't look to good for the Habs right now but that is for another blog post. Right now I really think 3 guys have a shot at the MVP of the playoffs. 1 is Halak if he can turn this thing aroudn. The other 2 are Antti Niemi and Jonathan Toews of the Hawks. In arguing for Niemi, its really not that hard look at what he has done in the first 2 games of this series. As far as Toews goes, his overall play not only in this round but throughout the entire playoffs can put him in contention for the award.

Now as far as the rest of this series goes, I don't really think it is possible to say that the Sharks are in trouble jsut yet, we have to see how Game 3 plays out in Chicago tomorrow night at 8. For San Jose to possibly come back in this series, Joe Thorton, Danny Heatley and Joe Pavelski. All 3 guys seemed to disappear after they knocked out Detroit and Pavelski had been a goal scoring machine throught the firs half of the playoffs. Those 3 guys really need to step it up fo San Jose to have any chance of getting back in this series.

Quarter of the Way Through season, Things Not Looking So Hot For Mets

The first quarter of the Major League Baseball season has passed and things are not looking all that great for my New York Mets. Currently the Mets sit in 4th place in the National league East with a record of 19-20 and are 6 games behind the Division Leading Phillies. The biggest bright spot for the team so far this season was the 8 game winning streak the team had to close out the month of April. One glaring problem the team has had has been strings of inconsistent play along with a slight case of the injury bug. As of the time of this writing, Carlos Beltran is still plagued with the knee injury, has no set timetable on his return to the lineup.

As far as the players are concerned, there have been strong showings form a few players, most notably Ike Davis and Rod Barajas. Barajas right now is hitting .273 but the suprise has been the 9 Home Runs. The reason this is a surprise is because the Mets have not really had any power whatsoever from the Catcher position since Mike Piazza left the team. Jason Bay leads the team with a .278 Batting Average but a suprise coming out of him is the fact that he only has 1 Home Run. I think he will eventually find his power stroke but who knows when that will happen.

Now on to 2 key components to this season, David Wright and Ike Davis. Davis has been a very nice suprise over at 1st base, a huge improvement over the rotation of sub par 1st baseman since the injury problems hit Carlos Delgado. Right now Davis is hitting .271 with 3 Home Runs and 10 RBI's. But the one thing that stands out about this guy is his defense. He has made at least 3 spectacular plays going over the rail by the Mets bench at Citi Field to make the play and they have all been highlight reel stuff. Expect this kid to take 1st Base for himself for a long time. Now as far as 3rd Base goes, David Wright has finally started to look like the David Wright of old that most Mets fans fell in love with. Currently Wright is hitting .270 with 8 Home Runs and 26 RBI's. As evidance by his stats the power has seemed to have come back to David in his swing. Hopefully this will keep up.

Heading into this season a big question mark for the club was going to be the pitching staff. No suprise that the team ace, Johan Santana is pitching like the ace. He has a 3-2 record in 8 starts with a 3.88 ERA and 40 K's. A surprise here is that Santana does not have the best record on the team, Mike Pelfrey does at 5-1. For the Mets to possibly make a run at the Division they need to get rid of Oliver Perez who as I have said before is a waste of space and walks everybody and their mother. Got the Yankees this weekend. Series Preview is to follow

NHL Playoff Recap/Preview

Last night, the Philadelphia Flyers became only the 4th team in all of professional sports to erase a 3-0 series deficit to win a best-of-7 series. And they did it in came 7 coming back from down 3-0. The Flyers took the game 4-3 after boston struck for the first 3 goals, one from Michael Ryder and a pair from Milan Lucic. Then in the 3rd the Flyers roared back with goals from James Van Remsdyke, Scott Hartnell, Danny Briere, and finally Simone Gagne to pull off the improbable comeback.

The other 3 sports teams to pull off this comeback were the 1949 Toronto Maple Leafs, who did it against Detroit, the 1975 New York Islanders, who did it against Pittsburgh, and the 2004 Boston Red Sox, who did it against the New York Yankees.

So this now sets up the Conference Finals in the NHL. First we start with the East, where it will be the #8 Montreal Canadians taking on the #7 Philadelphia Flyers. During the regular season, both teams split the season series, each winning 2 games. The playoff scoring leaders for the Canadians are Michael Cammalleri, who has 12 Goals 6 Assists for 18 points, and Brian Gionta who has 7 Goals 5 Assists for 12 Points. Carrying the load between the pipes for the Habs is Jaroslav Halak who is 8-5 in the playoffs with a 2.42 GAA and a .933 SV%. In my opinion he Halak is the favorite for the Conn Smyth Trophy as Playoff MVP. The Habs have shocked hockey as the #8 seed, knocking off arguably the 2 best teams in the conferance with the 3 best players in the world on them, in Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals in the first round , and now in the 2nd beating Crosby, Malkin and the Penguins, so this series will be another good test for the team who has not won a Stanley Cup Since 1993. Now moving on to the Flyers. The Broad Street Bullies are being lead offensively by Mike Richards, who has 5 Goals and 12 Assists for 17 Points, and Danny Briere, who has 7 Goals and 8 Assists for 15 Points. Leading the way in goal had been Brian Boucher, but he was injured in game 6 of the series and Mike Leighton had to come in and pick things up. The biggest lift for Philly had to come in game 4 with the return of both Jeff Carter and Simone Gagne, both of whom I think are keys to the Flyers Success the rest of the way. No doubt this will be a very hard fought series but I say Habs keep on the roll and will take it in 7 games.

Now on to the Western Conference Finals which features the #1 San Jose Sharks and #2 Chicago Blackhwaks. During the Regular season, the Hawks took 3 of the 4 meetings. San Jose coming into these playoffs have grown a reputation as of late of not being able to perform in the playoffs. In fact this is the best performance the Sharks have had since they made the Conference Finals in 2004 when they lost to the Flames. Well this year in the playoffs the Sharks are being led by Joe Pavelski, who has 9 Goals 6 Assists for 15 Points, and Joe Thorton, who has 3 Goals and 8 Assists for 11 Points. In net for the Sharks as always has been Evgeni Nabokov who has an 8-3 record, with a 2.43 GAA and a .907 SV%. San Jose took down the Avalanche and the Red Wings to get to this point. Meanwhile the Blackhawks had to get here by beating the Predators and Canucks. The team is lead offensively by (no surprise here) Jonathan Toews, who has 6 Goals and 14 Assists for 20 Points, and Patrick Kane, who has 7 Goals and 8 Assists for 15 Points. In net for the Hawks has been Antti Niemi who has a record of 8-4 with a 2.75 GAA and a .909 SV %. It was somewhat of a surprise to see Niemi over Cristobal Huet but Niemi has been the hot goalie and the coaching staff is gonna stay with him as long as the team keeps winning. The Sharks have had an incredable year but this is the round that it ends as the Hawks take it in 6.

This round may actually be the closest and most evenly matched round thus far in the playoffs. The Hawks were really the only team left that I think most critics had to start with. It is also safe to say that nobody expected the Canadians to do what they have done through the first 2 rounds of this here playoffs and after game 3 of the last round most I think had the Flyers written off and figured the Bruins would take it. But like last season against Carolina, Boston just could not seem to put it away when it really mattered. So there you have it. We are all set to go with the Conference finals in the NHL which start tomorrow night. Western Conference game 1 is at 3 while the East kicks off at 7. Enjoy the Conference finals folks!
