This story is one that was too bizarre not to write about. If you followed the business of Professional Wrestling at all, then you've heard, at some point, of The Rockers. Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty were one of the best tag teams of the late 802 and early 90s in wrestling. They developed a new style for tag wrestling. Then, when they split up, Marty had a decent career, but Shawn went on to become a huge superstar. Both men have had their demons over the years, but over the last few days, Marty's have really caught up to him. The biggest one being he may have killed a guy.
No you didn't read that wrong, that's not a typo.
Marty says he may have killed a guy back in 1973. This all got started after a very bizarre Facebook post Marty had made in which Jannetty suggests he killed a guy and dumped the body in the Chattahoochee River sometime around 1973. As the story goes, according to Marty himself, "He was a front desk clerk," Jannetty said, "He was known to sell the weed. What I didn't know was he lured in little kids."
As the story continues, Marty claims the man tried to grab his genitals, so Marty tried to flee, but the man grabbed him by the hair and got physical with him so Marty couldn't escape. That's when Marty says he grabbed a brick and fought back.
More from Marty, "I can't say he deserved to die, but he deserved to get his ass beat." "And, when I was beating him in the head with a brick, I was only trying to beat his ass, I wasn't trying to kill him." (TMZ Sports).
The police are now looking into any open cases of missing persons from back in 1973. If this is true, then its a messed up story on all fronts. Most wrestling fans new Jannetty had some demons he was dealing with, but this is a big one. It was kid of sad his career never took off on the singles route once the Rockers split up. Shawn went on to be one of the biggest stars the industry has ever had. Marty never quite got to that level. With all the skills he had, he could have gotten there, if he had just gotten out of his own way, in a sense.
More on this story will come to lite in the next few days. If this is true, I feel so bad for the man.
