The Winning Streak is now up to four games for the Oswego state Women's Hockey team. After dominating Stevenson at home last weekend, Oswego hit the road and went out to Alumni Arena for a weekend series with the Cortland Red Dragons. Cortland is the only team that has yet to beat the Lakers, with Oswego going 9-0-7 all time against the Red Dragons. Oswego kept that streak rolling with a pair of shutout wins in Cortland over the weekend.
First up was a Friday night affair, which saw the Lakers dominate from start to finish, coming away with a 3-0 win. Leslie Jarvis scored the opening goal, her 5th of the season, on the powerplay at the 11:31 mark of the period. Oswego pumped in two more goals in the middle period to put the game away. First Jocelyn St. Clair scored her 4th of the year at the 3:28 mark of the period, followed by Bailee Goodon scoring her 3rd of the year at the 8:54 mark of the middle frame to put the game away.
Kelly Farinella took the loss for Cortland, dropping her record to 1-6-1 on the season, as she stopped 27 of the 30 shots she faced. Meanwhile Tori Trovato picked up the win for Oswego, improving her record to 4-2-0, as she stopped all 16 shots she faced.
The two teams squared off again the following afternoon, with the result much of the same as the day before. Oswego came away with the shutout win, this time by a 2-0 score. The two goals was all the offense the Lakers would need. Emma Smetaniuk scored her 5th of the year just a minute into the hockey game. Melissa Seamont scored her 6th of the year with less than a minute left in regulation. Seamont had a two point night as she also set up Smetaniuk's goal in the 1st.
Kelly Farinella took the loss for Cortland, dropping her record to 1-7-1 on the season, as she stopped 39 of the 41 shots she faced. Meanwhile Tori Trovato got the win, improving her record to 5-2-0 on the season, as she stopped all 15 shots she faced.
With the wins this season, Oswego has 14 wins, eight of them via the shutout. Tori Trovato has four, Catherine Cote has three and Bridget Smith has the other shutout.
Oswego next up has a home and home with the Utica Pioneers this weekend. First its Saturday the 15th at the Aud in Utica at 2:30, then Sunday the 16th at 4PM from the Campus Center Ice Arena.!
