Cheap Shot Extraordinaire

The role of an enforce has been vital to any hockey team. They keep the stars on the team on their feet and gives them room to operate. Tom Wilson is the man playing that role for the Washington Capitals. Or at least he thinks he does. The view of Wilson around the league isn't very good. He's a cheap shot artist and has been known to cross the line more than once in a game.

Tonight against the New York Rangers was a perfect example of that. Here's the video in case you hadn't seen it yet:

I get what Wilson is trying to do, he's trying to throw the other teams off their game. he's good at that I'll give him credit it where it's due in that regards. But what happened tonight is crossing the line.

He's a repeat offender in the NHL, having been suspended by the league seven times already. The worst one being a 20 game suspension as a result of an illegal head hit on Oskar Sundqvist of the St. Louis Blues during a pre-season game. With what Wilson did tonight against the Rangers deserves another one. I'm not saying it should be as long as what he got in 2018 but it has to be something. Either that or kick him out of the league, there's no room in today's game for the kind of stupid, dangerous, stuff that Wilson does on the ice.

Its also worth noting, that any time he gets involved with another enforcer, Wilson disappears and has to be saved by the refs. The fact that the league still allows Wilson to get away with stuff like what he did in the video is mind numbing. If the league doesn't do anything to Wilson for his actions tonight, there's something wrong with this picture.
