Year In Sports 2020

Well here we are, we've made it to the end of 2020. As we sit here on the last day of the year, it gives us time to reflect back on the last 365 days in the sports world. In a year that was supposed to be filled with huge events and sold out crowds all over the place, that wasn't exactly the case. COVID-19 cancelled a lot of plans for the sports world and even pushed back the summer Olympics. Even with all the crazy happening this year, there was still plenty to talk about from the sports world.

Having no fans in the building has been an interesting sight, and sound, for sure. But with that, it hasn't stopped the shortage of great players, and plays, from happening this year. There's been plays and moments that we, as fans, will never forget, and they have taken place in this crazy year known as 2020.

Best & Worst NFL Week Sixteen

We have reached a first the history of the National Football League. This is the first season in league history in which we've had an NFL game played on every single day of the week. This week saw plenty of exciting games and great storylines to talk about. One running back went off in the scoring department, while another guy saw his job taken away from him. We saw another team start on a winning streak which may have cost them going forward. More playoff spots were locked up, while other teams are still fighting it out going into the last day of the season for spots. All that and more went down during week sixteen. Here's a look at the best and worst from the week that was in the NFL.

Best: Alvin Kamara, Running Back New Orleans Saints
After the game Kamara had on Christmas Day, this one was an easy one to pick. New Orleans rolled over Minnesota to the tune of a 52-33 win and Kamara shattered a 91 year old league record. He had 22 carries for 155 yards. the Yards trailed only Jeff Wilson of the 49ers for most in the league this week. That's not the record. The record was the fact that he scored six touchdowns on the day. SIX! Nobody has done that since Ernie Nevers in 1929. Kamara also became the 4th player in league history to score six TD's in a game, and the first one to do it since Gale Sayers in 1965. By this performance it locked up the top seed in the NFC this season. the Saints are now primed and ready to rock and roll for the start of the playoffs

Worst: Dwayne Haskins, Quarterback Washington Football Team
Washington had a chance to lock up the NFC East title on Sunday against Carolina. The Football Team wasn't able to get it done, falling to the Panthers 20-13, and Haskins was a problem. He had been benched earlier this year for interception problems and other off the field issues. But with Alex Smith dealing with a calf issue, Washington had to go back to him. Against the Panthers, he threw two more picks and lost a fumble. He been in the NFL two years and still has trouble keeping a handle on the ball at this level. Its now gotten so bad in Washington for Haskins, that after the loss, Haskins was cut by the team. Now Washington faces a win and in on Sunday and have to go with either a banged up Alex Smith or Taylor Heinicke, a guy who hadn't thrown a a pass in the NFL in two years before Sunday when he took over.

Best: Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville had its doors blown off on Sunday by the Bears, to the tune of a 41-17 loss. How is this putting them in the best department? Well it means a 14 game losing streak for the Jaguars and it locked up the number one overall pick will be the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft. This was a Jacksonville team that beat the Colts the first game of the season and hasn't been a good team since then. This is a good thing because it puts them in the best possible spot to grab a franchise player in Trevor Lawrence. Its been a bad year for the Jaguars, but it turned out to be a very good thing to get them going in the right direction with having the first overall pick next season.

Worst: Los Angeles Rams
Things just keep going south for the Rams. First, was the gut punching loss to the Jets last week, giving New York its first win of the year. Now there was what happened this weekend. All the Rams had to do was win against Seattle and get into the playoffs. Easier said then done. Seattle rolled over the Rams 20-9, in a game in which Jared Geoff was making more bad decisions. Some of what he was doing was worse then the decisions he made against the Jets the week before. Oh and to make matters worse, during the course of the game, Geoff managed to break his thumb on his throwing hand, which is going to require surgery. All this combined has the Rams in total danger of altogether missing the playoffs.

Best: Aaron Rogers, Quarterback Green Bay Packers
A little snow in Green Bay during football season never hurt anybody. If your Aaron Rogers, it was just another day in the office, as Green Bay rolled to a 40-14 win over the Titans. Rogers went 21 of 25 for 251 yards and four touchdowns, giving him 44 TD's on the season. That total ins one behind his career high which he set back in 2011. Oh and no other quarterback in the league has thrown for more than 38 touchdowns this year. He's putting up huge numbers, and so is the Packers offense, who's the highest scoring offense in the entire league. Rogers is playing, I'll flat out say it, at an MVP level and is carrying Green Bay right now. Sure the Saints are the favorite to come out of the NFC, but Rogers is playing at a level that puts Green Bay right up there as a team that looks like they could be the one to knock the Saints off the top of the mountain.

Worst: Vegas Raiders Defense
They had a lead against Miami on Sunday, a game they had to win if they wanted to even remotely sniff staying in the playoff race. Once again, the Defense managed to fall short of its duty for the Silver and Black, as Miami walked away with a 26-25 win. What ended up killing the Raiders was a horrible facemask call late in the game that gave the Dolphins drive more life, and ended up keeping a drive going that allowed the Dolphins to hit their game winning field goal. With the loss, Vegas has been eliminated from playoff contention. There had been some hope floating around this Vegas club as the year has gone on as to whether or not that this team had what it took to get to the playoffs. With this defensive blunder late in the game, that dashed out all hope of January football

Nets Depth Tested

It was viewed by many, and rightfully so, that the Brooklyn Nets were supposed to take a significant step forward this season. They made the playoffs a season ago, and did so under .500 at 35-37. Kyrie only played twenty games and Durant never saw the floor. They got into the playoffs mostly on role players. One of them being Spencer Dinwiddie. With Kyrie and Durant back in uniform, Dinwiddie was moved to the third staring role on this team. That was until Sunday night. Spencer hurt his left knee in the Nets 106-104 loss to the Hornets, tearing his ACL and ending his season.

The way things were shaping up, Dinwiddie was set to take flight in this new role. After all, he was coming off a big year last year, establishing a career high 20.6 PPG average. It was only the third time in his career he averaged over double digits in points in a season, all coming over the last three seasons he's played as a member of the Nets. he was becoming a key piece of this basketball club over the last three seasons and last year he was huge when Kyrie went down.

Looking towards the rest of this season, the Nets have a couple of options they could go with at shooting guard to replace Dinwiddie. Caris LeVert has already been penciled in on the depth charts by rookie coach Steve Nash as the starter. He's not the only option. They have another decent fit there too in Landry Shamet, who has hit almost 40% of his three pointers in his career. This does leave me to wonder, how well will this combination, or whoever else coach Nash decides to throw in there,. hold up?

Durant and Irving are going to need a solid three to really be able to run the offense with, the two of them can't carry the load every night. Only time will tell who can really step up and fill the hole left by Dinwiddie's injury. This also leaves one to wonder what could happen with Spencer after this season. He's going to want to come back and show he still got plenty left in the tank and will be ready to go by the start of next season. He does have a $12.3 million option for next season. It up to him whether he wants to stay in Brooklyn one more year or hit the market at the end of the season. It would be smart to keep the option, play next year in Brooklyn on a healthy leg and see what happens for the season after that

Best & Worst NFL Week Fifteen

We've now getting ready for the final two weeks of the regular season, which means its getting down to the nitty gritty for playoff spots. We already know that the Bills, Steelers, and Chiefs have clinched in the AFC, while the Packers, Saints and Seahawks have clinched spots in the NFC. We no longer have a winless team in the league, as the Jets FINALLY got off the slide and managed to actually win a game. we saw Pittsburgh seem to slowly start losing their once tight grip near the top of the AFC, and a rookie show off his skill set at the other end of the state of Pennsylvania. So lets get right into it. Here's some of the best and worst from the week that was in the NFL.

Best: Miami Dolphins Run Game
This is something that has been a long time coming for the Dolphins. They walked away with a 22-12 win over the Patriots, which not only eliminated the Patriots from post season play, but it also snapped a long streak for New England. The Patriots had gone 31 straight games without allowing a 100+ yard rusher. To find the last one to do it, you got to go back to week fifteen of the 2018 season to find it. It was Jaylen Samuels of the Steelers, who ran for 142 yards. Sunday, Salvon Ahmed of the Dolphins had 23 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown. This was a Dolphin team that was 27th in the league in rushing heading into the week. It was just a straight up pounding of the rock at the Pats defensive line, and New England didn't have an answer to stop it.

Worst: Los Angeles Rams
Coming into this week, the Rams were a 9-4 team and had lost only once at home all year. They were playing the winless Jets and were a seventeen point favorite to beat the Jets. Somebody forgot to tell all this to the Jets, as they came in and picked up their first win of the season in a 23-20 shocker over the Rams. Sure the Rams made a game of it late, but through most of the three plus quarters, they didn't have any answers at all for what the Jets were throwing at them. Jared Geoff looked really uncomfortable and off his game in the pocket. He got little help from his defense early on. The Rams got off to a very slow start in a game that, had they won, gotten them into a playoff spot and helped them keep pace with Seattle. Now the hill is a little steeper for the Rams to climb to get into the playoffs.

Best: Jalen Hurts, Quarterback Philadelphia Eagles
Hurts got his first start in this league and didn't do so bad for himself. I know that the Cards beat the Eagles 33-26 and yes Wentz was sacked six times. Hurts did manage to go 24 of 44 for 336 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for another 63 yards on eleven carries. Some of his passes weren't as accurate as Hurts would have liked, but he had his all around game coming together. With the Eagles falling out of a playoff race in the NFC East, this could be a really good proving ground for the kid. If he keeps playing the way he did in this game, the Eagles may have something. Which leads to the next point.

Worst: Carson Wentz Quarterback Philadelphia Eagles
This does now lead one to believe, what does the future look like for Wentz in Philly? He doesn't want to be a backup for the Eagles, but he could be heading in that direction with the way Hurts has season. Wentz had looked great three seasons ago before injuries started to take hold. He hasn't really been able to get himself righted. Here's the Eagles problem. It looks like this could be Hurts time under center for good. Wentz might be hard to move, because of his massive cap hit next season and the Eagles aren't sure what they can get for him. It looks like Wentz, for now at least, is going to be riding the pine.

Best: Jacksonville Jaguars
Its really weird to see the Jags in this situation, but in reality it makes sense. Jacksonville got blown out to the tune of a 40-14 loss to the Ravens. Jacksonville now sits at 1-13 on the season, and with the win by the Jets, the Jaguars are potentially sitting in the catbird seat for the top pick in the April draft. The Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes has been heating up between the Jaguars and Jets as of late and now the Jaguars are looking good in the Tank for Trevor sweepstakes.

Worst: New York Giants
The wheels have started to fall off for the Giants, a team at one point that was really heating up and heading towards a playoff spot after a dreadful start. They had come off a week two weeks ago in beating Seattle. They followed that up by getting drubbed by the Cardinals at home. Now in come the Cleveland Browns, and it was the same story as the week before. Cleveland walked away with a 20-6 win over the Giants, pushing them a little further down the ranks in terms of getting a playoff spot. They are going to need a lot of help and have to win out in order to sniff the playoffs. They have to go to Baltimore and then host Dallas, both games are must win for the Giants if they want a shot at the playoffs. Now is not the time to start slipping back into old habits and playing poor football.

Best: DeAndre Hopkins Wide Receiver Arizona Cardinals
We talked a little about this above, with the Cards beating the Eagles to the tune of the 33-26 win. DeAndre Hopkins was a big part of that. Sure he did fumble once, but he still finished with nine catches, one of which was for a touchdown, and he collected 169 receiving yards on the day. Those yard totals were the most of any receiver in the league. Hopkins is still showing that he's one of the very best in the league, and with the way he has played over the last couple of weeks he has kept the Cardinals in the race. They are holding onto the final wild card spot in the NFC and they are only two games back of Seattle for the top spot in the NFC West. Its really starting to heat things up in the playoff races in that division with two games left to go.

Worst: Kirk Cousins Quarterback Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings found themselves a stud wide receiver in this years draft, snagging Justin Jefferson with the 22nd overall pick in the draft. He's already got over 1,000 yards receiving on the year, included in that is the 104 he grabbed in the Vikings 33-27 loss to the Bears. Jefferson has the ability to be a true star in this game and do so for a long time. What does this have to do with Cousins? Well he could have had higher numbers if Cousins was on target a bit more often against the Bears. Case in point, he overthrew Jefferson at one point and Jefferson could be heard, clear as day on a mic, yelling “FUCK, Kirk! Comeon! Throw the ball!”. This was late in the 2nd quarter with the Bears up 20-7. Look Cousins did throw for 271 yards on the day but he was all over the place with his passes. If Minnesota hopes to go anywhere, Cousins had better get it together and perform like the man getting paid a ton of money by the Vikings.

2020-21 NBA Season Preview

The time has finally arrived. The 2020-21 NBA Season is here. Everything has been thrown off this year because of what has been going on, on a global scale. The NBA has finally stepped back on the court for a 72 game regular season. Lots of changes have been made around the league, new coaches and new faces in new places. At the end of the day, every team is targeting the same goal. Lifting the Larry O'Brian Trophy over their heads next summer as NBA Champions. Everybody is gunning for what the Los Angeles Lakers have. So lets get right into it. Here's some of the new faces in new places.

We have new head coaches in quite a few cities. Brooklyn (Steve Nast), New York (Tom Thibodeau), Philadelphia (Doc Rivers), Oklahoma City (Mark Daigneault), New Orleans (Stan Van Gundy), Los Angeles Clippers (Tyronn Lue), Indiana (Nate Bjorkgren), Houston (Stephen Silas), and Chicago (Billy Donovan) all have new bench bosses.

We also had some big player movement too. Chris Paul (traded to Suns), Danny Green (traded to Thunder), Gordon Heyward (traded to Charlotte), John Wall (Houston) and Russell Westbrrok (Washington) were swapped during the offseason. Dwight Howard (76ers), Jeff Green (Nets), Marc Gasol (Lakers), Jeff Teague (Boston), Tristan Thompson (Boston), DeMarcus Cousins (Houston) have all switched cities and are playing in new locations. It's going to make for interesting play in the NBA this year for sure. So here we go, the predictions for the 2020-21 NBA season.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers (55-17, 1st Pacific Division)
The defending NBA Champions are going to be a tough act to knock off this season. There have been a few changes made to this team, but there are two things that are for sure. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are going to be the anchors of this team, as both guys signed big extensions to stay put in LA. This year supporting cast has changed. Los Angeles saw the departures of JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard and Danny Green. In order to replace them, in came Montrezl Harrell, Dennis Schroder, Marc Gasol and Wesley Matthews. There may not be as much talent as last year, but the depth is there to match and possibly come back in spades. Plus its very tough to try and bet against LeBron over anything. Should be a tough test to play against these guys night in and night out.

2. Los Angeles Clippers (51-21, 2nd Pacific Division)
Playing the second act in LA is a tough thing to do, but the Clippers have found a way to carve out their own place in the city. After the way they bowed out in the playoffs, blowing a 3-1 lead against Denver, Los Angeles is looking to take another huge step this season. You still have one of the best players in the game today in Kwahi Leonard, now you have to try and move the right pieces around him to build this team to the next level. Paul George is still here and they needed another talent to really work with those two guys. Enter Serge Ibaka. They also brought in a good role player in Luke Kennard to come in off the bench. They got star power and depth to go on a deep run here.

3. Houston (Rockets (49-23, 1st Southwest Division)
Looks like there might be a little trouble brewing in Houston with James Harden. They already got rid of one headache getting rid of Russel Westbrook, trading him to Washington for John Wall. They still got PJ Tucker and Eric Gordon to start with them and they got DeMarcus Cousins coming into games off the bench. Kinda expecting Cousins to play a bigger role with this team then just a bench guy. They were also able to get parts for Ariza when they traded him. What I really think could make or break the Rockets this season is going to be Harden. There's no denying how good at basketball he is. But, he missed the start of camp, and with his attitude sinking and his desire to be moved, who knows what this season holds for Houston. Should they be able to keep Harden in tact, then Houston could be in for big things.

4. Denver Nuggets (47-25, 1st Northwest Division)
This was a team that fought and clawed its way to the Western Conference Finals, before falling to the Lakers in five games. This team is striving to head in the right direction. They got Nikola Jokic leading the charge on offense, with Jamal Murray playing his number two. This team has higher expectations from Michael Porter Jr, expecting him to really take that next step to join Jokic and Murray as their running buddies. They have solid players to be able to come off the bench. Denver has the lineup right there to be a heavy hitter in this Western Conference. Give it time and they can take that next step to really hang with somebody like the Clippers and Lakers

5. Utah Jazz (40-32, 2nd Northwest Division)
This year is going to be a big learning curve season in Utah. After blowing a 3-1 lead in the opening round to Denver. Donovan Mitchell proved last he can go. Bojan Bogdanović is going to be expected to play a bigger role, as is Rudy Gobert. You also now had solid talent coming off the bench in Jordan Clarkson. Scoring might not be an issue for Utah this year, but what could end up holding the Jazz back is the outside defense. And while they have a solid and balanced team in Utah, lets be real here. Do you really see them making the big jump to the next level yet to really be able to challenge with the Likes of both LA teams, Houston or Denver? They not quite there yet until they fix their defensive play.

6. Dallas Mavericks (40-32, 2nd Southwest Division)
Luka Doncic is starting to run with being the face of this Mavericks franchise. Management knows that it really has to be able to build around its best player. They have Tim Hardaway Jr as a solid running mate with him. They brought in a third guy in Josh Richardson (and a draft pick they used for Tyler Bay) in exchange for Seth Curry, so it worked out pretty well for Dallas. The only thing that's going to put a cramp in things for Dallas is not having Porzingis until mid January at the earliest. When KP is on the floor, he's shown that he can be an effective player for the Mavs and help get them where they need to go to take that next step. The defense needs some work as they were a little below par last season. Once they figure it out, they could start heading upward in the West.

7. New Orleans Pelicans (39-33, 3rd, Southwest Division)
New Orleans has its healthy franchise cornerstone in place in Zion Williamson. Him and Brandon Ingram could make for a possible scary duo to face. They just added Lonzo Ball to the mix, and with his vision on the floor, fast breaks won't be much of a problem for the Pelicans. Eric Bledsoe was brought in to help out with the defensive side of the game, but it came at the cost of a New Orleans fan favorite in Jrue Holiday. There is enough talent here to be a playoff team, but its still a young club that needs to be able to grow and learn as a team and how to play the game

8. Phoenix Suns (37-35, 3rd Pacific Division)
Phoenix looks like they are set up to be in a good place. Devon Booker and Chris Paul are going to make one lethal combination this year. They also have a potential double double machine in DeAndre Ayton and you got a pretty good scorer coming off the bench in Jae Crowder. Adding Paul though was the biggest move for the Suns if they hope to take the big steps in the right direction. With the talent that's here they have enough to be able to make it as a playoff team. Maybe this team could surpass the expectations that I have for them in the wins department. I mean Booker has the makings of being a huge star in this game and if he can hit that level, watch out the Suns are going to be a very tough team to play against.

9. Portland Trail Blazers (36-36, 3rd Northwest Division)
This was a team that a year ago, just happened to catch fire at the right time. That was in large part to the play of Damian Lillard, who was playing like a man possessed and I'm expecting more big things out of him this season as well. There's also high expectations from C.J. McCollum, who has the talent to be able to play with Lillard and help lead this Portland tram. Adding guys like Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr are going to be key steps to improving this team down the line. They will be able to compete but not right now, not with some of the other heavy hitters in the West. I just have a feeling that last season was a flash in the pan.

10. Memphis Grizzlies (35-37, 4th Southwest Division)
It been a rough go of it in Memphis the last three years, with the teams win total going downhill. Ja Morat was a big impact for the Grizzlies at the end of the bubble season, and he looks like he could be the guy to do it again this year. I'm expecting him to get help in the impact department from Jonas Valanciunas. What could end up hurting Memphis out of the blocks is not having Jaren Jackson and Justince Winslow to start the season cause of injuries. Once they do come back into the lineup, its going to be a rough go of it for the Grizzlies to even close to a competative teams in this Western Conference

11.Minnesota Timberwolves (32-40, 4th Northwest Division)
Last season, the bottom pretty much fell out on the Timberwolves, failing to reach the 20 win mark. They have had made some changes from the end of last season to now, but one thing is for sure. They got a core to work with in Ricky Rubio, Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell. All of whom can score and know how to make place. But it going to be different with a rookie in Anthony Edwards and a guy who just became a starter in the form of Juancho Hernangomez. Like I said, they got some pieces here, but lack of depth is going to kill them.

12. Sacramento Kings (32-40, 4th Pacific Division)
The Kings have hovered around the 30 win area the last couple of seasons and I'm not sure how much of that is going to be changing this year. They haven't been to the playoffs since 2006, and it going to keep counting this year. Sure the Kings have pieces to work with in Buddy Hield, Melvin Bagley, and Harrison Barnes in their starting lineup, but there isn't much here. Sure they have Hassan Whiteside coming off the bench to bring some veteran leadership, but lets be real here. The Kings are still a work in progress and it's not looking good for them to take that next step this season.

13. Golden State Warriors (29-43, 5th Pacific Division)
I'm sure my radar is going to be WAY off on this one, but I'm basing this on mostly what I saw and heard from Golden State last season. This was a team that won just 19 games last year4, after running rough shot over the league the last four years prior. I know not having both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson really did them in. Thompson going to miss this year too with another knee injury, but at least the get Curry back and healthy. They have Draymon Green and Andrew Wiggins who are going to be running the offense with Curry with Thompson out, but I'm still not seeing much on paper out of the Warriors.

14. San Antonio Spurs (29-43, 4th Southwest Division)
This still feels weird to say about the Spurts being a bad team. For the longest time, they had been a model franchise. This was a team that had won 61 games just four years ago. There's talent here to lead the way in DeMar DeRosen and LaMarcus Aldridge. Patty Mills and Rudy Gay add some level of depth coming off the bench sure. But that's really it in the Lone Star State.

15. Oklahoma City Thunder (26-46, 5th, Northwest Division)
Again this was another club who had been a solid 40+ win franchise the last five years that seems it has taken a big step back this season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a very bright future ahead of him in leading this Thunder club. But that's really it. OKC has quite a bit of youth on its roster, but its also got older players who's legs aren't quite what they have been in years past

Eastern Conference

1. Milwaukee Bucks (50-22, 1st, Central Division)
Milwaukee has the best player in this game, not named LeBron. The only knock, if there is one, you could make against Giannis Antetokounmpo is that he hasn't been able to get the big one to Milwaukee. The core is still there for the Bucks, so Giannis has his support system still in tact. Middelton, Lopez and Holiday are going to be key again for Milwaukee, as is Portis and Augustin coming off the bench. There's no doubt to anybody that this is a great regular season team. But what happens come spring time is a totally different animal. Milwaukee needs to be able to get it together come spring, otherwise this is going to be viewed as another major disappointment. Window looks like it starting to close on the Bucks

2. Boston Celtics (46-26, 1st Atlantic Division)
Talk about consistent. Boston has been that the last number of years. How last season ended for Boston left them with a bad taste in their mouth. Gordon Heyward isn't around anymore, but there still a lot of talent on this basketball team. Walker, Smart, Brown and Tatum can still carry the work load for the Celtics. What has me worried about this team is going to be its depth issues. Heyward leaving for Charlotte left a bit of a hole on this team, and they couldn't even get much of anything for him. But I still have high expectations for Boston to make a lot of noise in this Eastern Conference.

3. Philadelphia 76ers (45-29, 2nd Atlantic Division)
The team from the city of brotherly love has gotten leaps and bounds better over the last three season. The process is paying off. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are hitting their prime years in this league. They also have Tobias Harris and Danny Green, with a little more experience of Dwight Howard coming off the bench. It could also help the growth and development of this team by bringing in Doc Rivers as the head coach of this club. The only real thing that's holding the Sixers back from taking that big next step is a third man to run with Simmons and Embiid. But they're still good enough to be able to hang with the top talent teams and will be able to get out the first round.

4. Miami Heat (44-28, 1st Southeast Division)
They were the biggest surprise to come out of the league last season, making it all the way to the finals before losing to the Lakers in six. Jimmy Butler was a man on a mission in the playoffs, and can build off it again this season. Helping him out this year is going to be Bam Adebayo, who really started to come into his own during the playoffs. Him and Goran Dragic are expected to make a pretty impactful one two punch to help with Butler. This team returned twelve starters from last season, and adding in Avery Bradley and Maurice Harkless add another layer to this club. Miami might still be in trouble when it comes to hanging with the high power teams in the East. They are still very very good and are going to make a ton of noise.

5. Toronto Raptors (40-32, 3rd Atlantic Division)
There's going to be a sense of slipping in Toronto. Yes they've won fifty or more games in each of the last five seasons, but they were bounced in the second round last year. They lost two core pieces from their title team in Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka, both of whom departed for the West Coast. They still have solid scoring with Ibaka, VanVleet and Lowery powering the starting five and Siakam is going to need to step it up. He is the best player on this team, but fell short of expectations in the playoffs. For Toronto to take that next step, they need Siakam to get back to his great form again. If Toronto needs to get back to title level again, the team needs to be able to gel better and find its stride again.

6. Brooklyn Nets (39-33, 4th Atlantic Division)
The new era in Brooklyn Nets basketball can finally be taken into full force. They made the playoffs finishing two games under .500 a season ago. They only had Kyrie Irving for 20 games and missed Kevin Durant all season. Now, both are back in the lineup and healthy. Those two guys are going to be really tough to play against this season. With them in the starting five are DeAndre Jordan, Caris LeVert and Joe Harris. They've got a little bit of depth with Allen and Dinwiddie coming off the bench. This is going to be a solid, and very interesting mix, for first time head coach Steve Nash to handle. On paper, this looks like it could be a good team and one that's going to be tough to play against. But only time will tell how that translates to play on the court.

7. Indiana Pacers (38-34, 2nd Central Division)
This Pacer team has hit above 40 wins each of the last five season and manages to hang around the playoff race every year. Victor Oladipo is the face of the team still and he's got a solid run mate in T.J Warren. Warren did have a breakout of sourts in the bubble, so there's higher expectations on him from the Pacers this season. Miles Turner is expected to try and step up and play a bigger role on this club this season, as is fellow big man Domantas Sabonis. At least that's the hope coming out of Indiana. Lets face facts they have some good pieces, but it doesn't look like they're going to be much higher then a lower end playoff team

8. Atlanta Hawks (36-36, 2nd Southeast Division)
The last three years have been a rough go of it for a rebuilding Atlanta team, but now its time to take the training wheels off. Trae Young is the go to guy in Atlanta, and he's got some solid help in the form of John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Solid three guys to be able to build your starting lineup around. Oh and you got a great player coming off the bench in Danilo Gallinari, somebody who can do a little bit of everything for the Hawks. There's been a lot of change to the Atlanta dressing room since the end of last season. Young and Collins have a lot to live up and they should be able to. It won't be treat, but it will be good enough for a playoff spot in the top heavy East.

9. Washington Wizards (35-37, 3rd Southeast Division)
Here's where things start taking a turn in the Eastern Conference.Washington was a pretty good team three years ago, but each of the last two seasons have seen the win totals dip below .500 in the nations capital. They have an outside shot of possibly slipping in as an 8th seed, with an impressive one two punch in the back court of Bradley Beal and the newly moved Russell Westbrook. This is a chance for Westbrook to get a fresh start on things compared to what was going on for him in Houston.. Teaming him and Beal together could really work well for both guys. If both of them can stay healthy, they can stay in the mix in the East. If either one misses extended periods of time, we will see the lack of depth really come into play for Washington and that's what could hold them back from possibly making it to the playoffs this year.

10. Orlando Magic (30-42, 4th Southeast Division)
There's plenty of young talent to really be excited about in Orlando, but how much of it will be seen on the court this year is to be determined. Jonathan Issac was supposed to take that next step with Mo Bamba and Markelle Fultz, but Issac is hurt and looks like he could be out for the season. And now Cole Anthony is going to be inserted into the lineup with DJ Augustin having been shipped out during the offseason, its putting even more pressure on this young core. They got into the playoffs last year, by the skin of their teeth. This year, the story wont be the same. Injuries have already hit this team and there's virtually no depth in Orlando to really speak of. Its going to be a long season for the Magic.

11. Charlotte Hornets (29-43, 5th Southeast Division)
Things have been going downhill in Charlotte the last few seasons, and it might not look like its going to get any better this year. Gordon Heyward came into town after leaving Boston, and this is a good move for both him and the Hornets. Its a fresh start for Heyward and gives a major pieces for Charlotte to try and build around. He's got a couple of good young guys around him in the starting five of Devonte' Graham and Terry Rozier but its a gamble with those two guys. Plus your throwing in a rookie with a lot of pressure on him in the form of LaMelo Ball. Too many variables for this team to really convince me, as of yet, that the Hornets are going to be that major a threat in the East.

12. Chicago Bulls (29-43, 3rd Central Division)
Things in the Windy City have been on a major decline the last couple of seasons, but with new coach Billy Donovan now in place in Chicago, hopefully they can start to turn things around again. They have a stud to center around in Zach LaVine. he's got something to go with in the form of White and Clark Jr in the starting five and maybe, just maybe, get a little something out of the veteran presence in Thaddeus Young. in order for the Bulls to really surprise people, this team has got to exceed the expectations and then some. On paper, it doesn't look like its going to happen

13. New York Knicks (26-48, 5th Atlantic Division)
This once proud franchise has now become the step sister if you will of basketball in New York. Brooklyn maybe drawing some of the names, but the Knicks are trying to do it through the draft. They haven't had a winning season in over five years and have been downright bad the last couple of seasons. But there is hope with some of the young talent that is being assembled on Broadway. Mitchell Robinson and RJ Barrett are primed and ready to be the ones to take the Knicks where they need to go. Only thing now is can they have the right supporting cast around them? Sure you have guys in Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith Jr who are fringe players as to whether or not they can stick around. Next six months will really be a tell tale sign for this team and what new coach Tom Thibodeau has to work with going forward.

14. Detroit Pistons (22-50, 4th Central Division)
Playing Basketball in the Motor City was a rough go of it last year, and this year sadly doesn't look like its going to be much better. There's veteran name recognition on this team with Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose and Jahlil Okafor. You also have some young talent in mason Plumlee and Jermai Grant. Now what do you do with it. Going to be a long season trying to find the right mix to work to win games in Detroit.

15. Cleveland Cavaliers (20-52, 5th Central Division)
The last two seasons have been a disaster in Cleveland. They haven't yet been able to find that one guy to be able to replace LeBron in that lineup since he left for Hollywood two years ago. Collin Sexton has proven he can score, but that's really all he's shown at this level. They have good veteran presence with Andre Drummond and Kevin Love and you got a possible trade chip off the bench in Larry Nance. Given the mix that's been assembled in Cleveland, its going to make for interesting basketball that's for sure.

Best & Worst NFL Week Fourteen

Week fourteen has come and gone in the NFL, and boy did things take a shake up for the playoff picture. The Giants took a huge hit with the loss to Arizona, really slashing their playoff hopes with a month left in the season. At the same token, with their win and a little help from other teams, the Cardinals jumped all the way to the 7th and final wild card spot. This is going to be a crazy final couple weeks of the season. We saw big performances from talent like Dereck Henry, Travice Kelce and DeAndre Hopkins. We also saw downer performances from talent like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dan Bailey. We've got a lot to get to so lets dive right into it. Here's the best and worst from week fourteen in the NFL.

Best: Jalen Hurts, Quarterback Philadelphia Eagles
Pretty good way to get your NFL career off the ground as a starting QB. Hurts lead the Eagles to a stunning upset in a 24-21 win over the Saints. Hurts went 17 of 30 for `67 and a touchdown. But he did something that also ran the ball 18 times for 106 yards in the win. That's the difference in play between Hurts and Wentz. Wentz had been sacked 50 times through the last ten games. To be fair, that offensive line isn't that great to begin with. At the same time, Wentz isn't exactly the fleetest of foot. Hurts is. he can move and extend a play, as is evident by his rush totals from the win. For the Eagles to try and stay in this fight at the top of the NFC East, they might want to strongly consider keeping Hurts as the starter.

Worst: DeShaun Watson, Quarterback Houston Texans

It was a bit of a rough go of it in Houston this week. Chicago blew the doors off the Texans on Sunday, to the tune of a 36-7 win by thee Bears. Watson was supposed to be a key cog in the Texans offense. Yes Watson did throw for 219 yards and a touchdown, but he was sacked six times. SIX TIMES. That's almost as bad as what's happened to Carson Wentz the last few weeks in Philly. It also didn't help the fact that a lot of his wepaons were missing this week. I almost feel bad for Watson because the Texans expect to win, have him be the guy to lead them to victory, and do it all with nothing around him to really work with. That's not right, or fair man.

Best: Buffalo Bills
There have been times this year, I've openly called into questions if the Bills defense can manage to match its offense. They did it on Sunday in a 26-15 win over the Steelers, holding Pittsburgh to just 50 yards rushing. Josh Allen had a solid day under center, with 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns. They are not only having a winning season for the second year in a row, but they are on the cusp of doing something that they haven't done since 1995. Win an AFC East title. They got everything going in the right direction and Buffalo is starting to get on a roll again and do it at the right time.

Worst: Pittsburgh Steelers
Should the alarm's start going off in the Steel City yet? The Bills put a whooping on the Steelers, as we talked about above. Now lets look at this from the other side of the coin. With the loss, the Steelers lost out on the top seed in the AFC, with Kansas City now having taken over that spot. The way that KC has been playing, and how the Steelers have looked the last two games, it going to be tough for the Steelers to pass KC and get the top seed back. Pittsburgh has no real use out of its running game at the moment, they couldn't even pick up 50 yards against the Bills. Its leading to shorter passes, which are either inaccurate or are getting dropped.

Best: Dereck Henry, Running Back Tennessee Titans
To say that Dereck Henry has been in a zone this year would be an understatement. In the Titans 31-10 win over the Jaguars, Henry, once again, went off the charts. He finished the day with 26 carries for 21`7 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He's been in the zone as of late, and this marks the fourth time in the last five games he's gone over the 100 yard rush mark and the second time this season he's gone over two hundred yards in a game. He did it back in week five in an overtime win over Houston too. Been saying this for a long time that there is still a great need for a run game in the NFL and Henry is living proof that the run game still works in this league.

Worst: Dan Baily Kicker Minnesota Vikings
Heading into action on Sunday, the Vikings had been sitting in the 7th and final playoff spot in the NFC. They went into Tampa Bay and gave the Bucs all they could handle. The Bucs came away with a 26-14 win over the Vikings, and a part of that was the inability of Dany Bailey to be able to hit a kick. Normally, Bailey was automatic. Bailey missed four kicks on Sunday, three field goals and an extra point. And it wasn't that they were just misses, some of them were pretty wide too. That would have been good for ten points. It would have changed the tied of this ball game. And Bailey is usually pretty good, averaging 86.9% in his career on their kicks. Minnesota better hope he can figure out how to kick again if they want to get back into a playoff spot

Best: DeAndre Hopkins Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals
There's no doubt in anybody's mind that DeAndre Hopkins is an elite receiver in the NFL. In the Cardinals 26-7 win over the Giants, Hopkins went off, with nine catches for 136 yards. Those receiving yards tiled him with Travice Kelce of the Chiefs for the most receiving yards in a game this week. I know Hopkins never found the back of the endzone, it helped open things up more for the Cards offense to get to work and pick apart the Giants defense. Hopkins still has the game that he can be one of the very best in the business. He showed that Sunday against that Big Blue defense. And speaking of which.

Worst: New York Giants Lead NFC East
There had been some hope in Giants land. Coming into Sunday, the Giants had won four straight games and had just beaten the Seahawks in Seattle, which is a very tough thing to be able to do. Not only did they fall to Arizona, which we talked about above, but with the Eagles and Washington winning, there went the Giants hold on the NFC East lead. The way things had looked over the last month, even with the impressive game last week, the Giants had looked like they were able to make things click and get going in the right direction for the playoffs. They went from the 4th seed and hosting a playoff spot, to 12th place in the conference and on the outside looking in. They need to win out and get quite a bit of help if they want to have a chance to get into this playoff race in 2020/

Kyrie Fined

It has been well documented that Kyrie Irving has been outspoken. Playing in the NBA, or in any of the major sports for that matter, it is required by the players top be available to the media. Its written into contracts from the players association and the union that they have to be available to the press. Kyrie Irving has said he won't talk to the media this year. Kyrie had taken to Instagram to respond to this and said that he "doesn't talk to Pawns." Because of his actions both he, and the Brooklyn Nets, have been fined $25,000 by the NBA.

Now we touched on it on the show last week with Kyrie going dark with the media. I still think its a bad move by Kyrie. Its making him look like an idiot. I get his reasoning that he doesn't want to get his story taken out of context. But by not speaking to the press it casts a bad shadow over you. Kyrie took to Instagram today to make his statement to the media regarding this fine.

Per ESPN, "[I am] here for Peace, Love, and Greatness. So stop distracting me and my team, and appreciate the Art. We move different over here. "I do not talk to Pawns. My attention is worth more"

Stop Kyrie please. This makes you look like a jackass. It shouldn't be that much of a distraction to talk to the media. Those in the press are trying to do their jobs about getting information about the team and how its doing out to it's fans. By you not talking, at least from where I sit, it makes it look like you don't care about the fans. Doing this makes you look like a child.

Look it makes sense, like he said in his statement last week, that he doesn't want it to be taken out of context. That does happen where stuff can get blown out of proportion. This whole thing is getting blown out of proportion. I get it, he wants to let his play do the talking and then if he has to address the media he does it over social media. The way he's going about it is childish and disrespectful.

Plus the $25,000 he getting fined is about 1%, if that, of his annual pay. He making $41 million so that isn't a whole lot. But he keeps doing stuff like this its going to keep adding up.

Best & Worst NFL Week Thirteen

Week thirteen has come and gone in the NFL and boy did some make waves this week. The Jets are still winless, and managed to do it in the most Jets way possible. At the other end of the spectrum, the Steelers lost their shot at the perfect season, falling to the Washington Football Team. We saw the New Orleans and Kansas City punched their ticket to the playoffs, while Carson Wentz found his way onto the Eagles bench. Big Blue still has a hold on first place in the NFC East, while Arizona is starting to fall fast out of the playoff race. Lets dive into this week a little more shall we. Here's a look at the best, and worst, from week thirteen in the NFL.

Best: Darren Waller, Tight End Las Vegas Raiders
I know its against the Jets, but how could you not be impressed with this performance. In my mind, anytime somebody has a monster offensive day, they are worthy of putting here. Waller was playing out of his mind in the Raiders31-28 win over the Jets. He couldn't be stopped on this day, finishing with 13 catches, two of which were for touchdowns, and 200 receiving yards. That's an insane number for anybody let alone a tight end. Waller led all receivers in both yards and catches this week, making what the Raiders did all the more impressive. He did most of his damage early on, which opened things up for teammates as the day went on. And speaking of which.

Worst: Gregg Williams, Defensive Coordinator New York Jets
In this case I don't feel too bad for Gregg Williams. The Jets had that game in their 31-28 loss to the Raiders. The running game was effective, but the defense couldn't stop a beach ball. Waller torched them which we just talked about, and then Williams made one of the worst defensive play calls in the history of the NFL. He called for a zero cover blitz sending the house against the Raiders and Henry Ruggs caught Lamar Jackson flat footed and beat him to the outside for a game winning 46 yard TD with five seconds left. How the hell a play call like that was allowed to even happen is mind numbing. Williams was fired after the game. With that kind of call, and with the way the defense has played all year, its not much of a surprise. It also showed the holes that the Jets have in their system.

Best: New York Giants Defense
Winning a game in the NFL is tough. Winning a game against the Seahawks, in Seattle, is even tougher. But that's what the Giants did with their 17-12 win on Sunday. Sure the running game was a big factor for Big Blue, but what really got the Giants over the hump against one of the NFC's best teams, was its defense. Leonard Williams had two and a half sacks, while Blake Martinez and James Bradbery were making plays all over the field. They kept the Seahawks in check the entire day, never really giving Seattle much room to breath or operate. And what makes this win seem sweater is consider where this Giants team started the year. They kicked off with an 0-5 start and had a very real danger of not doing much of anything. Now they sit on top of the East and, even with a losing record, are primed to host a playoff game at MetLife come January.

Worst: Carson Wentz Quarterback Philadelphia Eagles
Its bad enough that the Eagles got spanked 30-16 by the Packers on Sunday. Its made even worse when Wentz, who was a former frontrunner for league MVP was pulled for Jalen Hurts. Wentz was horrible through two and a half quarters. He was just six of fifteen for 79 yards and was sacked four times. When Hurts came in, he threw for over 100 yards with a touchdown and a pick. He was also sacked three times, which shows how bad the Eagles line was. That's another argument in itself. Back to Wentz. He's been so bad this year, it makes things tough to stick with him under center. The Eagles won't, as they have already announced that Hurts will start for Philly on Sunday against New Orleans. Wentz in his best year was 2017 when he missed the rest of the year with a knee injury. He's shown flashes, but this year has totally dive bombed.

Best: Taysom Hill Quarterback New Orleans Saints
Not sure what it is, but the saints always find a way to pull wins out of thin air without Drew Brees. Last year, it was Teddy Bridgewater, this year it's been Taysom Hill. He lead the Saints to a 21-16 win over the Falcons, to help clinch the Saints a playoff spot. Hill went 27 of 37 for 282 yards and a couple of passing touchdowns. Most of that production came in the first half, but it was good enough to help the Saints build up a big enough lead. On third down, Hill was on his game. he went eight of nine for 92 yards on third down in the first half. Pretty impressive when you think about it.

Worst: Chargers Special Teams
There's a lot that went wrong for the Chargers on Sunday. Its bad enough that they got whooped by New England, to the tune of a 45-0 loss. Los Angeles couldn't stop the Pats run attack, they couldn't move the ball at all. The Chargers never saw the Red Zone at all during the game on offense. That's bad enough. But the Special Teams blunders are pretty head scratching, almost comical. The Pats had four punts on the day. One of them, the Chargers had twelve men on the field. Two others, they only had ten men on the field. Chargers kicker Michael Badgley missed a 46 yard kick and had another 58 yard try blocked. It seems that the Chargers special teams couldn't get out of its own way in the blowout loss.

Best: Cleveland Winning Season
trhis has been a long time coming for the Cleveland Browns. This is a team that came back into the NFL in 1999 and in that time, they've made the playoffs only once, and have twice had a winning season. Made the playoffs with a 9-7 record in 2002 (losing to the Steelers) and finished 10-6 in 2007, missing the playoffs by a game. Every other year has been a losing season. Except this year. Following a 41-35 win over the Titans on Sunday, the Browns now sit at 9-3. And with four games left, even if they go winless, will lock in a winning year for only the 3rd time ever. And to make this even better, the Browns are hanging onto a wild card spot and look good (as of this writing) to be a playoff team.

Worst: Matt Nagy, Head Coach Chicago Bears
Getting blasted 23-20 by the Lions was bad enough. But doing so in blowing a double digit lead makes this even worse. And it was blown in the fourth quarter no less. Trabisky got strip sacked late in the game, which set up the go ahead score from Adrian Petterson. Now this doesn't fall on Nagy the fact that Trabisky couldn't hold onto the football. What does fall on Nagy is the fact that the Bears have now lost six straight games and are falling too fast to handle out of a playoff spot. Things are crumbling around Nagy, which after this loss, could see the end of his run as head coach in the Windy City.

Best & Worst NFL Week Twelve

Week Twelve has now come and gone in the NFL, and we getting a little bit clearer of a picture heading for the playoffs. We got a couple of teams in the AFC East in the Bills and Dolphins that are stabilizing their positions, while Kansas City and Pittsburgh continue to lock down the top spots in the conference. Meanwhile, over in the NFC, Tampa Bay started to lose a little ground on the Saints in the race for the top of the South, while, somehow, the New York Giants are now on top of the NFC East. That's a sentence I never thought I'd write at the start of the year. There was plenty of great individual performances this week as well, so lets not waste any more time. Here's the best and worst of week twelve in the NFL

Best: Tyreek Hill, Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs
There's big games, then there's what Tyreek Hill did in Sunday's 27-24 Chiefs win over the Bucs. Hill had 13 catches for 269 yards and three scores. Hell in the first quarter alone, Hill had 203 receiving yards and a couple of touchdown catches./ The guy was in a zone like never before. It was the most by any player in a quarter since Lee Evans had 205 in the first quarter of a 2006 game against the Texans. As a matter of fact, the 203 yards Hill had in the first quarter were more than any other receiver in a game this year. Hill; is playing at another level and is a big reason why Kansas City is heading towards another title.

Worst: NFL Decision Makers
This is getting a little nuts. I give the league credit where its due, for how they handled the Ravens and Steelers game, pushing it back from Thanksgiving night to yesterday, based on the number of COVID positives. But how did that not happen with the Broncos and the Saints. Denver had gone through four quarterbacks. FOUR. All of whom had come down with COVID. They had to sign a wide receiver off the practice squad to play quarterback. Kendall Hinton was a backup QB at Wake Forrest before switching positions. And the Broncos even asked the league to postpone the game, with their request being denied. Denver should have been smarter with this, but so should the league. They trying to keep everybody healthy and at the same time put a good product on the field given the current situation. Maybe the league should consider doing what the NHL does and have emergency players available.

Best: Raheem Morris, Head Coach Atlanta Falcons
Sure, he maybe only an interim coach, but he's doing one hell of a good job in his time down in Atlanta. This was a team that started the year off 0-5, but once they made the coaching change, Atlanta found its stride. May be too little too late but after a 43-6 blowout win of the Raiders on Sunday, Atlanta is now 4-2 under Morris and at least trying to pull themselves back to a respectable level. Now I'm starting to wonder if it should be more than just an interim tag at this point. They have five games left in the season, and tough ones at that. If they can keep tough in those games, it might look good for Morris to either keep his job in Atlanta or help propel himself to another full time head coaching job somewhere else in the league

Worst: Colts Defense
Heading into the weekend, this was a Colts defense that hadn't allowed an opposing team to gain more than four hundred yards in a game this season. They got run over by the Titans on Sunday, falling 45-26 to the division rival. In the process, the Titans racked up 449 yards of total offense. This was on the strength of a big day from Derrek Henry, who finished with 178 yards and a huge chunk of them came on the outside. And this was a huge game for the Colts defense to faulter. Both teams went into the week 7-3 and now that the Colts have fallen with five weeks left, it looks like its a better shot at the wild card rather then a south title.

Best: Jeremy Chinn, Linebacker Carolina Panthers
Talk about having yourself a day. Yes I know the Panthers lost 28-27 to the Vikings. But Chinn, the Panthers rookie linebacker, had done something that never really happens in the NFL anymore. He had fumble recovery for touchdowns. One scoop and score is impressive enough. Having two is downright amazing. Oh and its even more impressive that it was done on back to back plays. His first score stopped a Vikings drive and gave the Panthers a 14-10 lead. Then, on the very next Vikings Play, Chinn had another fumble recovery for a TD to extend the lead to 21-10. It sucks that the Panthers weren't able to hold said lead, but still the fact that a rookie linebacker had two fumble recoveries for touchdowns on back to back plays is really impressive. Good on ya kid,

Worst: Chicago Bears
Following a 41-25 loss to the Packers over the weekend, it has finally hit the fan in the Windy City. Think about this. Chicago was hotter than a wild fire at the start of the year, racing out to a 5-1 start. Then, including this loss to the Packers, it's starting to come apart. Now up to a five game losing streak for Chicago has them sitting in 3rd place in the NFC North. This is the wheels falling off at the wrong time in Chicago. Nothing seems to be clicking right at the moment for the Bears and they need to get it figured out and quickly

Best: DK Metcalf, Wide Receiver, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle has found their stride again. They sit atop the NFC West with an 8-3 record, following a 23-17 win over Philadelphia. Metcalf was on his game again this week, finishing with 10 catches for 177 yards. He may not have found the endzone, but boy did he help open things up for the rest of the Seattle offense. After this week, Metcalf has 1,039 yards, 18 more then the next best in Tyreek Hill. They're the only two wide outs with over a thousand yards to this point in the season. Both guys are off the charts and its been showing this year. Big reason why they're leading there West divisions.

Worst: Las Vegas Raiders
Yes the Raiders are still a game over .500, but after getting beat by a field goal against Kansas City the week before, there was some hope that the Raiders could hang in there with the top tier teams in the AFC. But then you come out this week and lay an egg. Vegas got blown out 43-6 by of all teams the Atlanta Falcons. Dereck Carr was just awful, losing three fumbles and throwing a pick six. Josh Jacobs also lost a fumble as well, giving the Raiders five turnovers for the day. They couldn't score a single touchdown on the day too. Just a bad day for the Raiders all around, and if they want to be able to get back into the race and even sniff a playoff spot, they have to win out and get a little help to have a chance
