Don't Call It A Comeback

It has taken a while, but it's finally happening Mets fans. Back by popular demand, the Black Jerseys are making a return to Queens this spring and summer. It was announced yesterday by team owner Steve Cohen and again by star first baseman Pete Alonso that the team will be bringing back the Black alternate Jerseys.

the team had used the black jerseys in its team wheel from 1998-2011. It was introduced as a home alternate in 1998, with block letters NEW YORK written across the chest, but have also had METS in script written there as well over the years. The black jersey was worn as an alternate at home, paired with the white home alternate pants, and on the road. They also had all black caps that went along with the look.

There's been rumors floating that it could be for select Friday night home games this season, a move which some, myself, are all for.

Always liked the look of the black jerseys. They had a nice, simple clean design to them Plus with the Mets wearing them it lead to some good years early on, including the back to back NLCS appearances in 1999 and 2000.Granted both of those teams were loaded with talent and really really good but still. Now, this could be a sign of things to come. This team that will be wearing the black uniforms are really really good, so hey you never know.
